Research Fellow

Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center

Songhee is a research fellow in the Chen Lab at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC). SH earned her Ph.D. in Animal Science at Chungbuk National University in South Korea, where she completed her doctoral work in Dr. Xiang-Shun Cui’s lab. Her research traced how epigenetic remodeling guides early developmental transitions and how it intertwines with cellular metabolism, shaping both the structure of organelles and the metabolic state of the early embryo. Her expertise spans genetic manipulation, live-cell and high-resolution imaging, genomic profiling, and molecular analysis of early development. In the Chen Lab, her work focuses on how epigenetics and metabolism operate, broadening the scope of analysis to capture their interplay in depth across multiple dimensions. Her expertise is brought to bear on the broader questions of developmental biology to generate research that makes a significant scientific contribution.
